Palm Sunday: The Triumphal Entry of Our King

palm-sunday-blog-tile

Palm Sunday marks the beginning of Holy Week and commemorates Jesus’ triumphant entry into Jerusalem, as recorded in all four Gospels (Matthew 21, Mark 11, Luke 19, and John 12). As Jesus rode into the city on a donkey, crowds of people laid down palm branches and shouted, “Hosanna to the Son of David! Blessed is He who comes in the name of the Lord!”

This moment fulfilled the prophecy from Zechariah 9:9, revealing Jesus not only as a miracle worker and teacher—but as the long-awaited Messiah and King. His entrance was both bold and humble, signaling that His kingdom would not be established through earthly power, but through sacrificial love.

Palm Sunday is a day of both celebration and reflection. It reminds us that Jesus willingly stepped into the final days of His earthly ministry, knowing the suffering He would endure. He came not to be served, but to serve and to give His life as a ransom for many.

As we begin Holy Week, Palm Sunday calls us to worship Jesus as King and to prepare our hearts for the cross and resurrection to come.
