It was on this day that Judas Iscariot made a secret agreement with the chief priests to betray Jesus for thirty pieces of silver (Matthew 26:14-16).
While Jesus likely spent the day in quiet preparation and prayer, the forces of evil were moving forward with their plot. Still, none of this surprised Him. Jesus was not caught off guard—He was walking toward the cross willingly.
This day reminds us that even in silence, God is sovereign. Jesus was fully aware of the betrayal to come, and He chose to endure it for the joy set before Him: the redemption of sinners.
