Good Friday is the most solemn day of Holy Week. It is the day Jesus was arrested, falsely accused, beaten, mocked, and ultimately crucified on a Roman cross.
Though He was sinless, Jesus bore the full weight of humanity’s sin. He was pierced for our transgressions and crushed for our iniquities (Isaiah 53:5). As He hung on the cross, He cried out, “It is finished” (John 19:30), declaring that the debt of sin had been paid in full.
Good Friday is not good because of what happened to Jesus, it’s good because of what happened for us. Through His death, we are offered forgiveness, reconciliation with God, and eternal life.
This day calls us to the foot of the cross in awe and gratitude. Jesus gave everything to save us.
